SPECIFICATION
VCI Coating meets all specifications for MIL-DTL 24441 formula 150 two part epoxy primer with a migrating corrosion inhibitor added {VCI) to from a dry film containing 2.5 weight percent of the inhibitor.
PERFORMANCE AFTER 500 HOURS IN SALT FOG CHAMBER
These results document a significant reduction in corrosion rate on both white and corroded steel. Similar degree of reduction on both indicates that the VCI agent has migrated through the rust layer to the white steel surface.

Primer per square foot cost:
Basic 24441 $0.25
24441 + VCI $0.50
SURFACE PREPARATION REQUIREMENT ON RUSTED STEEL
Basic 24441 or a primer plus zinc requires removal of surface rust and old paint to a white metal condition per NACE 1-4 is estimated to cost about $5.00/ft.
VCI-Coating 24441 with Agent 12 requires pressure water washing to remove surface debris, loose paint and rust at an estimated cost of $1.00/ ft.
TECHNICAL FUNCTION
The VCI migratory corrosion inhibitor migrates through an existing coating and surface rust to the white steel and inhibits further corrosion. The epoxy primer 24441 formulation provides excellent adhesion on existing painted surfaces. Maximum painted surface life is achieved by application of a traditional urethane finish coat at 2 mils dry film.
